SAR-KO-PAR AQUATIC CENTER

Project Type: Zero-Depth Entry Pool

Location: Lenexa, Kansas, United States

Located in Lenexa, Kansas, Sar-Ko-Par Aquatic Center hired Water Technology, Inc. (WTI) and SFS Architecture to modernize and elevate their park amenities. By renovating, their efforts will ensure healthy spaces for families to explore, play, and grow.

Zero-depth entries are often slippery and can pose a slip-and-fall hazard for guests entering or exiting activity pools. Surfacing these commonly sloped areas with Life Floor is a great way to improve the safety of the amenity, especially when jets or other spray fixtures are present that kids can engage with.

Sar-Ko-Par Aquatic Center was recognized in the 2025 Athletic Business Aquatic Design Portfolio.

[Sar-Ko-Par Aquatic Center] was designed with community input, global market demands, and operational requirements in mind. The aquatic center creates optimum programming opportunities with ample open water and attractive amenities while preserving the historical aspects of the park and enhancing the overall user appeal.

The design is comprised of two pools with a multi-generational appeal that can accommodate multi-faceted programs such as learn to swim, recreational swim and dive teams, water fitness activities, aquatic events, and party rentals. The two pools are to co-exist in the same operational environment which will have energy-saving benefits and allows each pool to operate independently without impacting the operation of the other facility components.
